Over the past three weeks, Deep Dish CEO Jake Sheaf has been working closely with players in the men's and women's intermediate and advanced sessions, assessing current levels and getting to know both new and returning members.
Jake said "It’s been fantastic to see so many familiar faces back on court, alongside a strong group of new players joining the sessions. The energy, effort, and positivity across all sessions have set a great foundation as we head into the summer."

Updated Playing Levels
As part of this process, we’ve refined our playing level criteria to better reflect the standards and progression within our sessions. Players can now view the updated criteria here:https://www.deepdishbeach.com/levels-of-play
These updates will help ensure that all sessions remain appropriately challenging, structured, and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Individual Recommendations
Following the assessment period, players have now been given recommended training groups based on:
Current skill level
Potential for development
Physicality
Commitment
Our aim is to place each player in an environment where they can improve most effectively while still being challenged. We recognise that not every assessment will be perfect, particularly for players who attended fewer sessions, so our coaches will continue to monitor progress and make adjustments where needed. This includes new players who will attend over the Summer.
What This Means for Players
Players are encouraged to attend and book sessions within their recommended level
Existing bookings and season passes will be adjusted where necessary
Coaches will continue to provide feedback and guidance throughout the season
If players have any questions about their level, they are encouraged to speak with a coach before or after sessions.
Summer Coaching Schedule
To provide greater consistency across sessions, our coaching team will follow a structured weekly schedule:
Monday: Gracie Whitefoord & Jack Ashton
Tuesday: Jake Sheaf or Issa Batrane & Jack Ashton
Wednesday: Gracie Whitefoord & Jack Ashton
Thursday: Tom Sawko or Issa Batrane & Jack Ashton
New Intermediate Gameplay Sessions
We’ve also introduced an Intermediate group to our Tuesday and Thursday 8:30–10:00pm gameplay sessions, creating more opportunities for players at this level to compete and develop.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited about the progress already shown and what we can continue to build over the coming months. Our focus remains on creating a high-quality environment where players can improve, compete, and enjoy their time on court.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on court soon.
