What a half term it has been at Deep Dish Volleyball Club. Our October Half Term Fun Camp brought together a brilliant mix of volleyball, games, creativity, teamwork and plenty of smiles.

Across the week, players had the chance to try new activities, build confidence, make friends and enjoy being part of the Deep Dish community. From sand court rallies to indoor games and Halloween crafts, every day had something different to enjoy.

Most of all, the camp was full of energy. Everyone got stuck in, supported one another and helped make the week feel welcoming, active and fun from start to finish.

A week packed with fun and friendship

The camp gave everyone a chance to enjoy volleyball in a relaxed, encouraging setting. Some players arrived with experience, while others were still learning the basics. That mix created a great atmosphere, with everyone able to take part at their own pace.

Throughout the week, we saw players growing in confidence. Simple moments made a big difference, such as calling for the ball, celebrating a good serve, laughing after a long rally or helping a teammate understand a drill.

There was a strong sense of togetherness across the sessions. New friendships formed quickly, and returning players helped make newer faces feel part of the group.

A few things really stood out:

  • Confidence grew each day as players tried new skills and took on challenges.

  • Teamwork came naturally through games, drills and group activities.

  • Friendships formed both on and off the court.

  • Everyone contributed to the positive, supportive feel of the camp.

That spirit is what makes holiday camps so special. They give young people the space to be active, social and creative, all while having a genuinely good time.

Beach volleyball brought the fun to the sand

One of the biggest highlights of the week was heading out onto the sand for beach volleyball.

The beach court gave players a chance to experience the game in a different way. Moving on sand takes more effort, and it encourages players to think about balance, footwork and communication. It also brings out plenty of laughter, especially during fast rallies and unexpected saves.

Everyone had the chance to take part, practise their skills and enjoy some friendly competition. There were serves, passes, sets and plenty of determined attempts to keep the ball alive.

What made the beach volleyball sessions so enjoyable was the relaxed feel. Players encouraged one another, celebrated good points and kept going even when the ball did not quite land where they wanted it to.

That is exactly what we love to see at Deep Dish Volleyball Club. Effort matters. Team spirit matters. The willingness to try again matters.

Indoor court action kept the energy high

The indoor court sessions brought a different kind of focus. Players could work on technique, movement and game play in a more structured setting, while still keeping the sessions lively and enjoyable.

There was plenty of volleyball action across the week, with players developing core skills and then putting them into practice during games. Coaches supported the group with tips and encouragement, helping players understand not only how to play, but how to work better as a team.

The indoor sessions included:

  • Serving practice

  • Passing and control work

  • Movement and positioning

  • Team games

  • Small challenges and match play

It was brilliant to see players listening, learning and then applying those ideas during rallies. Even small improvements, such as better communication or a stronger ready position, helped games flow more smoothly.

Halloween crafts added a creative twist

Because it was October half term, we could not miss the chance to add some Halloween fun.

Alongside the sports activities, players got creative with spooky Halloween-themed arts and crafts. The room was full of imagination, colour and festive ideas, with everyone making something a little different.

These creative sessions gave players a chance to slow down, chat with friends and show a different side of their personality. After lots of movement on court, the crafts were a lovely way to reset while still keeping the camp fun and social.

There were plenty of fantastic creations and lots of proud smiles. The Halloween theme added a seasonal touch to the week and helped make the camp feel even more memorable.

Teamwork games brought everyone together

The week was not only about volleyball. We also took on a range of teamwork games and group challenges designed to get everyone communicating, supporting one another and working towards shared goals.

These activities helped players practise skills that matter on court and beyond it. Good teamwork needs clear communication, patience, listening and encouragement. The games gave everyone a chance to build those habits in a fun and low-pressure way.

Some challenges needed quick thinking. Others needed cooperation and trust. All of them helped bring the group closer together.

It was great to see players cheering each other on, solving problems as a team and celebrating when a challenge finally clicked. Those moments showed how much the group had grown across the week.

Thank you to everyone who joined us

A huge thank you goes to everyone who came along to our Half Term Fun Camp. The week was full of laughter, learning, teamwork and enthusiasm, and that came from every person who took part.

We are so proud of all the players who joined us. Whether they were trying volleyball for the first time, building on existing skills or simply enjoying an active week with friends, they helped make the camp a real success.

Thank you as well to the families who supported the camp and helped make the week possible. It was wonderful to see so many smiles, new friendships and positive moments from start to finish.

Keep an eye out for our next camps and club activities. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back soon for more volleyball, more games and more great memories.
