INDOOR U15 JUNIOR GRAND PRIX ROUND 3 RECAP

Our U15 Juniors have just smashed through another round of the U15 Junior Grand Prix with outstanding results.

Last weekend our two Indoor U15 Boys teams and our U15 Girls team took their final steps in the top level of junior competition and made Deep Dish very proud with their growth as a team and as individual players. Check out the individual team results below.

Tier 1 U15 Boys | 3rd Place

Results / Final Standings (3rd) The history makers! The u15 Tier 1 boys team have surprised everyone around the nation with firstly qualifying for the last 8's and then making the semi finals. After two wins in the pool confirming their spot in the semi-final, they took on Leeds. The boys took to the loud atmosphere of air horns, drums and cheers. The Leeds supporters brought everything that could make a noise, however our own support base wasn't out done, using pots and pans, a venue bin as a drum and cheering so loudly and proudly that Deep Dish won the battle of the supporters. with the atmosphere set, the boys lost the first set and adjusted well for set 2. They stormed to a big lead with some incredible defence and serving to take it to a deciding 3rd set. Deep Dish started well and traded points but it wasn't to be on this occasion. Finishing 3rd in the country for u15's on the club's first outing into Tier 1. Coach Amber Davis & Team Manager Mark Garcia-Kidd Said "Firstly I think we should acknowledge the parents/supporters who came today, they certainly brought the noise and gave the team an extra 10/15%. Secondly, this group has done something incredible today, although we missed out on the finals, they should be incredibly proud of what they've done this season. No one expected us to cause such a stir in the indoor scene, we've beaten and taken sets off the biggest indoor clubs and shown that we can compete. We are extremely excited to see what we can do next year with this group."

Tier 2 U15 Girls | 1st Place

(No results recorded)

After a brief absence from GP2 our girls made the trip to Maidstone and competed in a 9 team format. After topping their pool they continued into the gold pool, qualifying for the semi-finals where they played Lynx. After losing the first set the girls came back to win the next two sets and have a chance of taking home gold. In the final the girls played local rivals Dulwich and showed great determination, winning 2-0 by the tightest of margins, securing the gold medal. Coach Mark Garcia-Kidd said "The girls have now won both competitions they've played, it's a clear indicator that we are ready for T1 next year. This group needs to be challenged so that their development and improvement continues. I am excited to see what they can do for the future."

Tier 2 U15 Boys | 6th Place

Results The Deep Dish Tier 2 U15 boys team had a fantastic tournament playing against clubs from in and around London. The team has developed exceptionally well over the year and with an ever growing roster of promising players it is only a matter of time until these boys start competing in the tier 1 category, with the majority of the team having played for less than a year. It was fabulous to see Deep Dish's newest volleyballers push all the other teams in some close fought battles on court. Coach Dave Panah Said "This group are fantastic, they never give up and support each other throughout the tournaments, a great example of good teammates supporting each other. It will be extremely exciting to see this group develop on the beach where their skills will become even more refined over the summer. They will be a force to be reckoned with for next years competition."

Congratulations to all our Junior U15 Boys and Girls for an outstanding weekend!
