As Term 1 comes to a close, we’re thrilled to reflect on the incredible progress and accomplishments of our junior athletes. Ella Watson, Junior Club Manager, shared some fantastic insights about the season, highlighting the dedication, growth, and teamwork demonstrated by each team. Here’s a detailed look at what made Term 1 so special and what’s to come.
Team Highlights
This term, our junior teams showcased their talent, determination, and growth both on and off the court.
The U18 Boys team, led by captain Stanley Laureson, had an outstanding term. Competing in two Grand Prix tournaments, they displayed incredible skill and teamwork, culminating in a standout moment when they won their final Grand Prix. This victory not only showcased their abilities but also earned them a well-deserved spot back in the Gold Pool, an impressive achievement that highlights the potential of this talented group.
The U16 Girls team also had a remarkable term under the leadership of captain Marcelle Waters. Competing in two Grand Prix tournaments, they consistently demonstrated their growing technical abilities and teamwork. This team has shown incredible potential, and their steady progress throughout the term has set them up for even greater success in the future.
The U16 Boys, captained by Sid Bailey, made significant strides this term as well. Although they participated in fewer competitions compared to the other teams, their commitment to development and hard work during training has been evident. The progress they’ve made in their skills and understanding of the game has been a pleasure to watch, and they are poised for even stronger performances in Term 2.
Junior Club Milestones
Term 1 was a season of firsts and record-breaking moments for the Junior Club!
One of the most significant milestones was the record number of players who joined this term - over 100 junior athletes signed up to be part of Deep Dish Crystal Palace! For the first time in the club’s history, the majority of these players were girls, a testament to the growing inclusivity and appeal of volleyball within our community.
