Whether you're coming to Deep Dish Valencia Camp to train hard, soak up the sun, or just escape for a week of volleyball-fueled fun—you’re going to fall in love with Valencia. But why stop at just the court time?
If you’re flying all the way here, make it count. Here are the top things to do before or after camp to make your trip unforgettable.
1. Discover Valencia’s Old Town Charm (El Carmen)
Take a lazy morning to wander through the cobbled streets of El Carmen. Grab a café con leche in a shaded square, check out the Serranos Towers, or wander through La Lonja de la Seda, a stunning 15th-century building that’s now a UNESCO site.
2. Eat Authentic Paella Where It Was Born
Valencia isn’t just the home of paella—it’s the only place where you should try the original. Head to Albufera Natural Park, just outside the city, where you can taste traditional paella cooked over firewood.
Must try: Paella Valenciana (with chicken, rabbit, and local beans—not seafood!)
Where to go: Restaurante Mateu or Nou Racó
3. Chill (or Party) on Playa de la Malvarrosa
Post-camp? Feet sore? Time to relax.
Valencia’s beach is just 15 minutes from the city centre—and it’s one of Spain’s best. Lounge in the sand, go for a dip, or hit up Marina Beach Club if you're in the mood for a sunset cocktail.
Before camp: Unwind and get in the zone.
After camp: Celebrate, tan lines and all.
4. Bike Through Turia Park (and Reach the City of Arts & Sciences)
Turia used to be a river—it’s now a 9km green space that cuts through the city like a cycling superhighway. Rent a bike and cruise through gardens, fountains, and skate parks until you hit Valencia’s futuristic crown jewel: The City of Arts & Sciences.
It’s like a sci-fi movie set, featuring:
Oceanogràfic (Europe’s biggest aquarium)
Science Museum
L’Umbracle rooftop garden
And the perfect spot for Instagram stories.
5. End Your Trip with Sunset in Albufera
Just a 20-minute bus ride from the city, Albufera Natural Park is peaceful, wild, and totally underrated. Think: mirror-like water, birdsong, and boat rides into the sunset.
