Deep Dish Beach, are hosting a one-of-a-kind beach volleyball event in Cornwall in collaboration with Watergate Bay Hotel and Birra Moretti, bringing over 8 elite-level players, including the Bello Brothers.

For the very first time, Cornwall plays host to some of the best volleyball players in the UK, as Watergate Bay Hotel and Deep Dish Beach Volleyball welcome crowds to the beach on Friday 13- Sunday 15 September. This epic showdown will see volleyball heavyweights take to the sands and battling to win the title of King or Queen of the Bay.

BIG NAMES IN BEACH VOLLEYBALL

Over the weekend, Deep Dish Beach Volleyball will bring both UK and worldwide talent to the court for a series of fast-paced matches on Saturday 14 September.

Ranked No. 1 in the UK, the Bello brothers, Javier and Joaquin, have established themselves as a volleyball force to be reckoned with – up there in the top 50 teams in the world. Debuting on the volleyball scene in 2016, and now only at 23 years old, the brothers can already boast six World Tour medals, Commonwealth bronze, four-straight British Championships, and a 5th place in their European Championship debut.

Alongside this power pair, Harry Jones – an experienced English international with plenty of silverware earned across the national and world stage – will be joining the roster. His accolades include winning the Weymouth Grand Slam, one of the most prestigious tournaments on the UK Beach Tour.

Freddie Bialokoz is currently competing with Team Bialokoz/Batrane and is part of the Deep Dish Team. Freddie recently secured his first Beach Pro Tour win in Halifax, Canada, marking a significant milestone in his career and further solidifying his reputation as one of the rising stars on the professional beach volleyball circuit. Earlier this summer, he proudly represented England at the prestigious Nations Cup in Hamburg, Germany, showcasing his skills on the international stage.

Representing the ladies, Martha Bullen will take her place on the female team with impressive national and international experience representing her country at many tournaments as a junior and beyond. And all the way from Aotearoa comes Alice Zeiman, a force to be reckoned with and gaining ground on the World beach volleyball scene. Currently representing the National New Zealand team, Alice Zeimann and her partner were one title away from qualifying for the Paris Olympics. Her accolades are coming 4th at the Commonwealth Games, and countless podium positions on the World Tour and Asian Championships.

Joining Alice is fellow Kiwi Olivia MacDonald, who has also repped New Zealand. She is another strong contender with impressive performances on the world stage, having teamed up with Alice before, these two will be ones to watch.

More names will be announced in the coming weeks, but three things are certain: the calibre will be high, the talent will be unforgiving and the atmosphere will be electric.

WEEKEND ACTION

With tournaments kicking off on Saturday, spectators are invited to watch the high-octane action unfold with professional commentators, good tunes, low-slung deck chairs and volleyball-based activities throughout the weekend.

Alongside the court action, Friday will see Deep Dish Volleyball offering ‘give it a go’ sessions to local schools and colleges. And on Sunday, anyone who would like to try their hand at the sport can book a free learn-and-play session with the coaches. Sessions are available to book online through Deep Dish here.

Making sure spectators are well-fed and watered, BIRRA MORETTI (who are taking over the Beach Hut from 9-22 September), will be partnering with local company Cornish Italian to serve arancini, bruschetta and cannoli to the crowds on the beach. They’ll also be pouring glasses of BIRRA MORETTI’s newly-launched ice-cold Sale Di Mare, a medium-bodied premium lager with Italian sea salt, evoking the spirit of Italy.

Deep Dish invites everyone to head down to the beach, dig in for the day and watch the action unfold.
