Deep Dish kicks off the first major event of the 2023 UKBT Season: the Southern Open in May!
We are extremely excited to be the first in line to launch the new and improved 4* events for those UKBT athletes looking to compete at the highest level on domestic beaches.
The UKBT Southern Open held on Bournemouth's blue flag beaches will look to host a 32 team draw to give those top athletes plenty of competitive games before the peak of the season commences. The draw size will also allow those aspiring athletes to test themselves and hopefully cause some upsets as they look to establish themselves at the top end of the UKBT National Ranking.
This event will be the first in a line of Opens and Grand Slams, and with the wider draw it's hoped that we'll see upsets and the return of some regular favourites competing on the local tour. The Open Series is a new tournament category that succeeds the former 4* events and with only one Open event per region across the UK, these events will ensure more quality, more prize money and a higher level of volleyball!
